George Sakoulas, MD, earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts, and completed his postgraduate training in internal medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in 1998, From 1998-1999 he served as chief medical resident in the Department of Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. From 1999 to 2002, he was a fellow in infectious diseases at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center where he developed interests in Gram positive infections.

He is an active infectious diseases clinician at Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego and faculty at New York Medical College, Valhalla, NY. He is a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the American Society for Microbiology.

Dr. Sakoulas is the author or coauthor of more than 60 scientific publications and has written numerous book chapters and scientific abstracts. He lectures extensively on topics such as the global implications of methicillin-resistant S aureus (MRSA) and treatment options. His research interests include the investigation of the relationships between antimicrobial resistance and virulence mechanisms in S aureus.
